There is a world of open source software that runs in a Windows or Linux environment providing direct replacements for "MIcrosoft" applications that can cost a normal business the earth. So whether it is office, multimedia (audio & video), graphics and design, pdf management, web development - these can all be found and used for free within your business, or used to provide solutions that "Windows" applications just can't.

You could consider switching away from Windows altogether, given the move to cloud computing, the most your people would need would be a decent web browser with a good internet connection. This also means a reduction in replacement hardware in the future, you do not need the grunting / hulking desktop PCs of the past to get work done.
